What has really kicked me into action today was reading a story about a new poster campaign for 'Becks Modelling Clay.' A German ad agency has gone down the route of portraying people of different racial and religious backgrounds all getting along and having a bit of fun. (in clay) They feature members of the KKK, hassidic jews and afro chicks and carry the strap line "Let the kids build a better world"
Obviously it's aimed at the parents, encouraging them to get their kids to be creative with clay and make beautiful scenes of love and peace. I guess the strap line is clever in this sense, although I'm not sure how effective it will be as a call to action, pushing these parents to buy the product. Even if they do, what's to stop any evil little children creating mass scenes of death and destruction...The visuals are cute but if it was made to look like a child's handiwork maybe it would be more effective? Like those stop smoking print ads, where there's a kid's handwriting copying the parent's.... making things look like a child has made them would prove more hard hitting to me... especially if it's a product aimed at kids, that parents should be able to relate to!
